Philip Bassaragh

Owner/Senior Supervising Instructor

Phil has been a Certified Driving Instructor since 2000 and serves as the Owner and Supervising Instructor of Pro Tech Driving Academy. An active member of the Driving School Association of New Jersey, he is known for his calm, patient approach that helps even the most anxious new drivers feel confident behind the wheel. As the architect of Pro Tech’s comprehensive curriculum, Phil also leads the training of new instructors, with a strong focus on crash avoidance techniques. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys modifying and driving high-performance vehicles, as well as recording and performing as a freelance musician.

Anthony Neglio

Senior Instructor

Anthony brings over a decade of experience as a high school educator, working primarily in inner-city schools where he developed the patience and adaptability to connect with a wide range of personalities. This background has made him a highly skilled and effective driving instructor at Pro Tech Driving Academy. Known for his witty, dry sense of humor, Anthony has a natural ability to put even the most nervous first-time drivers at ease. He takes great pride in watching his students quickly build confidence and improve their skills in just a few lessons. Outside of work, Anthony enjoys spending quality time with his family and relaxing with reruns of his favorite TV sitcoms.

Amanda Christie

Senior Instructor

Amanda has been a valued member of our team for many years. With a creative, outside-the-box approach, she turns every lesson into a safe, engaging, and memorable experience. Amanda has a natural ability to adapt her teaching methods to meet each student’s individual needs, ensuring they achieve the best possible results. Her laid-back and approachable nature makes it easy for students to connect with her, fostering strong communication and steady growth as skilled, confident drivers. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending time outdoors, listening to music and making memories with her wonderful goddaughter.

Wendy Somerville

Senior Instructor

With over two decades of employment in the driving school industry and sixteen years of experience working with the special needs population in public education, Wendy has been a viable asset to Pro Tech Driving Academy. Her dedication to molding strong, confident drivers shines through in each lesson and her structured teaching style helps students understand the techniques that she teaches with ease. Wendy is the perfect blend of professional structure and a relaxed, fun personality. When she is not behind the wheel, she is an active grandmother, avid gardener, a nature enthusiast and animal lover.

Al Abaza

Senior Supervising Instructor

With over three decades of experience as a Senior Supervising Instructor, Al brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and passion to every lesson. Known for a genuine love of teaching, he takes great pride in helping young students build confidence and develop a deep understanding of safe driving practices behind the wheel. Beyond the classroom, Al has a strong commitment to giving back to the community. A former President of the Boys and Girls Club, a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International, and past President of the East Hanover Soccer Club, he has dedicated countless hours to supporting youth and community initiatives. Now a respected member of Pro Tech Driving Academy, Al is proud to continue making a positive impact in this exciting new chapter.

Joseph Foster

Instructor

Joe is a former Social Studies teacher who has brought his passion for education beyond the classroom and into the driver’s seat. With years of teaching experience, he understands that every student learns differently and adapts each lesson to fit the individual. His upbeat personality, patience, and encouraging approach help even the most nervous students feel comfortable behind the wheel, making each lesson both educational and enjoyable. Outside of teaching, Joe enjoys spending time outdoors biking, camping, and being with his fur babies. Holding a master’s degree in history, he also loves discussing the world, both past and present.

Christopher Crum

Chris is an integral part of the Pro Tech Driving Academy team, where he is dedicated to helping students transform into skilled, self-assured drivers. With a teaching style rooted in comfort and patience, Chris excels at building a strong foundation for his students, emphasizing safety and responsible driving practices. His approach perfectly balances technical expertise with operational leadership, ensuring that whether a student is a nervous beginner or preparing for their final road test, they feel supported and confident. Chris doesn’t just teach people how to pass a test, he equips them with the skills to remain safe and responsible for a lifetime on the road.

Mark Casey

Mark brings an incredible energy to Pro Tech Driving Academy. With a personality that is both low-key and personable, he creates a comfortable environment where students feel at ease while learning. His extensive background as a former limousine driver, delivery professional, and avid motorcyclist gives him a unique “street-smart” perspective. With his meticulous attention to detail and a “safety-first” philosophy, you can trust that your child is in expert hands.
